Calling all Dorset businesses. The Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride needs your support.
The annual ride, now in its 35th year, remains one of the most popular fundraising events in the charity’s calendar, attended by hundreds of individual riders and families. This year’s event is setting a new challenge to encourage businesses to enter a team across any of the distances. Taking place on Sunday 2nd July 2023, the ride will start in Corfe Mullen, and cyclists can opt for a circular route of 38, 48, 63 or 100 miles.
The corporate team (made up of four persons or more) raising the most charitable donations will win a magnum of Moet & Chandon Imperial in appreciation of their support as well as the recognition of being the event’s leading corporate fundraisers for this remarkable cause, albeit they will face stiff competition from individual fundraisers!
Sunseeker is proud to support the Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride for an 18th consecutive year with many of its employees taking part or volunteering. There will however be dozens of businesses from across the region, whatever their size, which may wish to enter a team or teams in order to create some friendly competition whilst enjoying the beauty of Dorset as part of one of the rides.
Bryan Jones, Marketing Manager at Sunseeker International, commented:
“The Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride is a well-established fundraising event supporting the charity here in Dorset. We truly love being involved but we are also keen for other local businesses to rise to the challenge, working together as a team to reach the finish line and ultimately raise much needed funding for this inspirational charity. With five weeks to go, now is the perfect time to sign up, motivate your team and take home the glory of being the No.1 corporate fundraiser.”
Peter Smith-Nicholls, Ride Organiser, added:
“We’d be incredibly grateful to host teams from local businesses across any of the four distances of 38, 48, 63 and 100 miles in what is a significant year for us. The event goes from strength to strength, but it is thanks to the cyclists, our volunteers, sponsors and supporters that we can continue to support people living with cancer.”
Macmillan Cancer Support provide emotional, physical and financial support for those affected by cancer. Right now more than three million people are living with cancer in the UK that means on average someone is diagnosed with cancer every 90 seconds.
Every £49 raised could help the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line. They can deal with a call or web enquiry from people living with cancer, providing a wide range of clinical information such as treatment options, pain management, managing symptoms and navigating clinical services. The Macmillan Support Line is open and available to everyone who needs support seven days a week and vital funds raised help support services such as this.
Last year, the Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride raised in excess of £35,000. As a main sponsor of the event, Sunseeker covered all running costs, allowing 100 per cent of the money raised to go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support.
The online entry for individual or corporate entries is now open. More details can be found at: www.macmillanbikeride.co.uk.
