This festive season, Dorset Museum & Art Gallery is transforming into a festive wonderland filled with creativity, laughter, and the magic of discovery. From 15th November to 31st December, visitors of all ages are invited to take part in a series of joyful seasonal events — including The Great Christmas Pudding Hunt, Winter Wonders: Festive Arts & Crafts, and Seasonal Sparkle: Festive Arts & Crafts Weekend.
Step into the spirit of the season with The Great Christmas Pudding Hunt, From 15th November to 31st December, families are invited to take part in The Great Christmas Pudding Hunt! — a joyful festive adventure through the Museum galleries. Christmas puddings have found their way into hidden corners, waiting to be discovered by sharp-eyed visitors. Among them lies the elusive Golden Pudding, said to bring a special prize to the lucky finder. Visitors can collect their Pudding Hunt Trail Sheet at the entrance and set off on a merry mission to find them all.
Celebrate the joy of creativity at Winter Wonders: Festive Arts & Crafts, taking place on 29–30 November, 6–7 December, and 20–21 December from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the Museum’s beautiful Victorian Hall. These relaxed, drop-in sessions invite visitors to design and make their own seasonal decorations, cards, and handmade gifts using a variety of festive materials. No booking is required and the activity is free with admission — simply drop in, enjoy a hands-on creative experience, and bring home a little piece of Christmas cheer.
The festivities continue with Seasonal Sparkle: Festive Arts & Crafts Weekend on 13–14 December, with sessions running from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Perfect for all ages, these family-friendly workshops offer a relaxed and joyful atmosphere where everyone can get creative and make their own seasonal-themed crafts to take home. On Sunday 14th December, the fun continues alongside the Dorchester Christmas Cracker, adding an extra layer of festive excitement to your visit. Once again, no booking is needed — just drop in and take part in the holiday fun.
