Aish Technologies Expands Engineering Capability

Dorset-based advanced systems design and manufacturer Aish Technologies has announced it is to expand its engineering team, as a direct result of a number of recent major contract awards and a positive outlook for 2018.

Aish currently has over 40 specialist engineers working within its Technology Centre and has plans in place to increase that by 25% over the next few months, developing its in-house design capability by increasing capacity and resource. Positions to be filled include mechanical, electrical, electronic and software engineers. All of Aish’s engineers specialise in designing systems capable of surviving the harshest environments, meeting high maritime defence standards to protect electronic equipment from shock, heat and vibration.

Aish has recently been awarded contracts from MBDA, BAE Combat Systems and an unnamed overseas contractor. These contracts are for key Aish projects including the Type 45 Shared Infrastructure, Impressed Cathodic Protection and Multi-Functional Console upgrades. The Shared Infrastructure project is one of the most significant to affect ship technology in recent years, as it establishes a common shared architecture across Royal Navy surface ships, accessible through a single console. ICCP (Impressed Current Cathodic Protection) generates an electrical current in the sea water around the hull of larger vessels, cancelling out the galvanic currents that cause corrosion.

Lloyd Bates, Aish Managing Director, commented:

The expansion of our Engineering team is a positive step towards the continued development of Aish Technologies and allows us to offer increased capability to our customers. It is rare to find such a comprehensive manufacturing solution in the Defence market, where we can design, test, fabricate and assemble in-house. It was a challenging 12 months last year and I am delighted to see Aish come through this period and continue to offer UK manufacturing jobs to our local area.

Aish is part of AGI Holdings, an investment affiliate of J.F. Lehman & Company, along with operating subsidiaries Aeronautical & General Instruments (also based in Poole), Hoffman Engineering in the US and Aircraft Appliance and Equipment based in Canada. Aish enhances AGI’s portfolio of mission critical situational awareness, filtration and other related products and services.
