Bournemouth and Poole College Wins Prestigious National Apprenticeship Award

Bournemouth and Poole College is proud to announce that it has been awarded ‘Best New Apprenticeship Programme’ at the esteemed National Apprenticeship and Training Awards. The College received this recognition for its Level 2 Semi-Skilled Boat Builder Apprenticeship, delivered in collaboration with Sunseeker International Ltd. The programme was selected from over 600 nominations, underscoring its excellence in apprenticeship training and industry partnerships.

The award-winning apprenticeship is delivered through the Sunseeker Skills Academy, based at the college’s Poole campus. The Academy plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of the marine sector, adding approximately 100 new employees to Sunseeker’s boatbuilding workforce each year. The Level 2 Semi-Skilled Boat Builder Apprenticeship provides learners with hands-on experience, industry-leading training, and the opportunity to develop essential skills required to excel in careers within the marine sector.

This recognition follows a recent visit by HRH Prince William, who toured the Sunseeker Skills Academy just two weeks ago. During his visit, His Royal Highness observed the progress of some of its apprentices and learned first-hand how the programme can transform lives by offering valuable career opportunities within the marine industry.

Speaking on the achievement, Antony Carr, Executive Director of Higher Education and Skills, said: “Winning this award is a testament to the hard work, dedication and innovation of our college team, as well as the invaluable partnership we have with Sunseeker International. Together, we are equipping the next generation of skilled professionals for the marine industry.”

Bournemouth and Poole College remains committed to delivering high-quality apprenticeship programmes that support industry growth and provide learners with exceptional career opportunities.
