Bournemouth & Poole College has been awarded third place in the national Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCA) for the Further Education College category.
The WUSCAs take place every year to get an overview of student satisfaction in higher education across the UK. For the first time this year, three new categories were added to the awards line-up including the Further Education College award.
More than 36,000 students from across Britain took part in this year’s survey, breaking all previous records.
The College offers a range of academic and vocational qualifications from HNDs and HNCs to degree level courses and higher apprenticeships, both for school leavers and adults returning to education. Many courses are validated by the College’s prestigious partners including Bournemouth University, Arts University Bournemouth, Solent University and University of Wolverhampton. These courses achieve excellent success rates for students and high rates of employment for graduates. They are also developed in partnership with businesses to ensure that the education received and the skills learnt continue to be what employers are looking for when recruiting.
Higher education courses at the College cover a wide range of subjects including business and management, computing, CGI, engineering, graphic design, visual effects, performing arts, teacher training and early years.
Chloe Brown, performing arts foundation degree student, said before her performance at the Lighthouse in Poole: “I have gained so much confidence from studying performing arts at the College. It doesn’t surprise me that the College has been presented with this award, as I have studied here for almost five years now and throughout this time I have continued to receive so much support from my tutors and other people on my course.
“I always feel safe at the College and am really pleased that I have been able to study a degree in familiar surroundings. Overall my experience has been excellent and I have learnt so much during my course through the state-of-the-art facilities which we have access to at the College and the help and advice given by our tutors.”
