BSO Musicians Lounge Transformed in Just One Month
Posted on: 21/12/2016

Thanks to the generosity of a private donor and in-kind support from local interior designers K&K Interiors, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra has been able to refurbish their musicians’ lounge to the standards of these world-class performers.
The BSO is a UK Orchestra of national and international importance. This brings with it a busy performance and rehearsal schedule, with over 140 concerts performed across the South and South West region over an 11 month period each year. If the BSO’s musicians are to perform at their best, they need a comfortable place to prepare and relax between performances and rehearsals at their home in Lighthouse, Poole. This is the BSO musicians’ lounge – but, in recent years, this lounge had begun to look dated and worn. The time had come to provide a fresh space for the musicians of this acclaimed ensemble to work in as well as enjoy their precious free time.
One of the challenges facing the BSO was funding. As a performing arts charity, priority is always given to producing orchestral performance and using music to transform lives in local communities. However, thanks to a generous gift of financial support from private donor Richard Bagley and fantastic in-kind support from K&K Interiors, it was made possible for the BSO to consider refurbishing the lounge for its musicians for the first time in years. K&K Interiors were able to complete the transformation of the lounge in just one month, on time and expertly delivered. New flooring, lighting and furniture has completely transformed the previously tired lounge and made it into a flexible and welcoming space suitable for everyday use as well as functions.
