Bus operator to help event organisers promote activities for local people

Morebus is inviting event organisers across the region to share their forthcoming special occasions on its website.

The bus operator is keen to hear from clubs, charities and other organisations who are planning public activities like sports days, walks, music festivals and celebrations, so it can help generate interest and encourage people to leave their cars at home and travel sustainably instead.

“We offer a comprehensive network of services across the region – and many organised events are easily accessible on our buses,” said Morebus head of communications, Nikki Honer.

“Many local people use our website to find out about our services and timetables, but we feel we can go a step further and offer up additional information about events happening in our area.

“It’s our chance to help promote what’s happening, whilst at the same time providing details about how people can reach events by bus.

“We are committed to helping reduce congestion on the area’s roads, and we’d like to demonstrate how easy it is to ditch the car and travel with us instead. Public events often attract large numbers, and just one double decker bus has the potential to transport up to 75 people at a time.

“To encourage more local people to change their travel habits, we’ve been working hard to make the bus a more attractive option.

“In addition to investing millions of pounds in a new fleet of low emissions vehicles, we’ve improved the services we operate across the region. Taking the bus eliminates the need to look for parking – and it offers people the chance to celebrate without having to drive home afterwards.

“We’d like to hear from event organisers about local activities they have planned – so we can help drum up interest, whilst demonstrating just how easy it is to take the bus.”
