The British Chambers of Commerce

The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) have been supporting trade for over 150 years. BCC has created extensive international networks and works with businesses of all sizes. We work closely with our foreign counterparts, Governments and British exporters all over the world. In 2012, the Prime Minister launched a new partnership between the British Chambers of Commerce UK Trade & Investment and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to create an international UK business network offering more export support in high growth markets. The aim is to increase the range of practical, business to business support on the ground where businesses need support the most, starting in high growth and emerging markets.

More support is now available in Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Turkey, India, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Philippines, and UAE.

This includes 40+ British business centres and also means we now offer four areas of core support in each market:

  1. Market insight – meet and speak to business experts representing the UK export network
  2. Getting started overseas – business centres, match making or access to business services.
  3. Building market share – joint venture or local marketing support, access to satellite offices.
  4. Building regional share – introductions to region/worldwide business to business networks.

We have also removed all the hassle of searching for business support overseas and then worrying whether the chosen organisation in a faraway market is trustworthy. You can now benefit from one approved/accredited overseas business network in each market and all at the click of a button.

Global Business Network

British Chambers based in the world’s top 40 high growth markets are being supported by DIT to offer an accredited suite of services, complementing DIT support overseas. This is rapidly developing into a B2B platform aimed at boosting support for trade between companies in the UK and those overseas – and the South West is at the forefront of this national activity.

These British Business Centres are already established in such key markets as the UAE, Poland, Turkey, South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and many other markets of importance to South West companies. Dorset Chamber, through its International trade forum will be running events, visits and channeling companies through to these networks – and we aim to see our overseas trade thrive as a result.

Global Business Network

The International Trade Team at Dorset Chamber are very good at helping businesses find the right level of support. Sometimes an off-the-shelf solution is right, but at other times a more bespoke approach gives the best value for money and a more effective answer.
