Chamber members behind plans for exemplar housing project in Alderholt

As the population and number of businesses continue to grow exponentially in Dorset, the demand for suitable and affordable housing far exceeds the current supply. Fortunately, Dudsbury Homes, a company based in Dorset, is bringing forward an exciting new development in Alderholt and Dorset Chamber members Intelligent Land and W H White are at the centre of the team bringing forward the plans.

The development includes high-quality homes and facilities that aim to transform the local area in a positive way. The Alderholt Meadows development will consist of 1,700 homes, a modern medical centre, a new school, and a new 6-day hourly bus service. This bus service will travel from Cranborne-Alderholt-Fordingbridge-Ringwood, offering a much-needed boost to the local economy. What sets this project apart is not just the scale of the development, but also the quality and affordability of the homes on offer. 600 new affordable homes will be available, meaning that a wide range of people will be able to take advantage of the opportunities that come with living in the area.

The development will benefit skilled young professionals, growing families, and key workers, providing a chance to benefit from a new community. The rural setting near Dorset’s business hubs will appeal to many. The new fibre network provided by Wessex Internet will make it easier for people to work from home and create new business opportunities in Alderholt. In addition, a new 10,000 sqm employment hub will provide a multitude of opportunities, including discussions for new serviced office spaces.

The development will be transformative for the local area, providing much-needed housing and facilities, and supporting business growth and economic stability in the region. Furthermore, it will offer a new benchmark in quality for future housing projects and leave an outstanding legacy for others to learn from in the future. Dudsbury Homes has studied successful settlements across Dorset to ensure that Alderholt Meadows draws on excellent examples of development across the county to create a beautiful place where people will want to live.

During the construction period, the local economy will benefit from £178m GVA, creating over 1,095 jobs and a further 1,435 jobs supported within Dorset’s supply chain. Throughout the life of the development, over 1,160 jobs are likely to be created, including 564 jobs on-site for new commercial and community uses, and an ongoing annual expenditure of £25.9m is expected to be made in Dorset by residents.

Overall, the new development in Alderholt represents an extraordinary opportunity to transform the local area and boost the economy of Dorset. With several Dorset Chamber members involved in the project already, it offers a fantastic long-term opportunity for businesses across the region.
