Chamber members saddle up for Dorset Mind

A team of Bournemouth business leaders are swapping their suits for cycling shorts as they climb one of France’s toughest mountains…by bike.

Jason Gadsby and Rob Westhead from Bayview, James Kidner from Trethowans and Ben Jenkins from Mitchells Estate Agents are taking on the Mont Ventoux Challenge in October, cycling a grueling 620 miles from Ouistreham to the top of Mont Ventoux.

Together, they will spend four days cycling up what’s become known as one of the toughest climbs of the Tour de France.

The team is putting itself through the feat of endurance to raise money for Dorset Mind, which supports local people with mental health challenges.

Team member James Kidner said: “It’s such an important charity and one that we feel is making a very positive impact on the local community here in Dorset. The challenge will no doubt be tough but knowing that we’re raising money for such a good cause will keep us going.”

Dorset Mind CEO, Marianne Storey, said:” We are so incredibly grateful to the team for taking on such an impressive challenge in order to help enable people in Dorset to access the mental health support they need, when they need it. This challenge also highlights the benefits of physical activity for personal wellbeing, along with connecting with others and working as a team to take on such a mammoth task! The money raised will go directly to help us deliver vital mental health services for the county.”
