Charity Neon Run Supported by National Supermarket Chain

Posted on: 13/02/2017

Tesco Poole has chosen to support Diverse Abilities because colleagues in the stores value the work that the charity does in the local community. Thanks to the supermarket chain’s generosity, they will be lighting up the lives of children and adults living with disabilities in Dorset.

As part of the sponsorship, Tesco Poole, which includes Branksome, Tower Park and Fleetsbridge, will be at the event handing out energy snacks and fruit bars; promoting the event in store and holding an in-store raffle to raise further funds.
Steve Cox, store manager at Poole Fleets Corner, said:“As a community we need to work together to ensure the services that are so important to those in need are being looked after and developed. As such, we are delighted and very proud to be supporting Diverse Abilities. The charity’s services play a vital role in our Poole community and across the whole of Dorset.”
The Dorset Neon Run in Poole Park is set to be a great evening of entertainment. The event includes a night-time 5km race where competitors can run, walk or dance around the course and are encouraged to dress in bright and colourful clothing, wave glow sticks and wear fluorescent body paint and head torches to glow as they go.
Both races start at 9pm on the day and registration opens at 7.30pm, with a full timetable of warm-up events and outdoor entertainment for a real party atmosphere.
Ashley Weedon, events manager at Diverse Abilities, said:“We are really excited to be running our first ever Dorset Neon Run in Poole Park. With our great track record of delivering events we are sure it is going to be a hit with local people and hope friends, family and colleagues encourage each other to sign up.  The added bonus with taking part in the Dorset Neon Run, is that all proceeds raised from the event will be going to Diverse Abilities, benefiting the people we support with disabilities in the local community.”
