Christopher Eccleston Named Festival Patron for Bournemouth International Film Festival 2025

Bournemouth International Film Festival (BIFF) is proud to announce that acclaimed British actor Christopher Eccleston has joined as Festival Patron for its inaugural edition, taking place October 3–4, 2025 at the Hilton Bournemouth.

With a career spanning over three decades across television, film and theatre, Christopher Eccleston is one of the UK’s most respected and recognisable acting talents. His work in Our Friends in the North, Shallow Grave, The Leftovers, The A Word and as the Ninth Doctor in Doctor Who has earned him widespread critical acclaim and a place in the hearts of audiences across generations.

Festival Director Steve McCarten says:
“Christopher’s support sends a powerful message about the role of regional festivals in shaping the future of British storytelling. His work consistently champions bold, socially conscious narratives and that aligns perfectly with what we’re building at BIFF.”

BIFF 2025 will feature screenings across genre and form, industry-led panels and workshops, a black-tie awards night, and a strong emphasis on first-time filmmakers and new voices. The festival is a not-for-profit initiative designed to empower emerging talent and build creative opportunities for communities across Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and beyond.

Christopher Eccleston joins a growing roster of supporters and collaborators, including the BFI, Creative England, Arts University Bournemouth, Chine Financial, My Little Teddy, Adventure Attractions, and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
