Community comes together for the Lewis-Manning Hospice Care Christmas tree collection & recycling campaign!

It has been a mammoth community collaboration to successfully bring together the annual Lewis-Manning Hospice Care Christmas Tree collection & recycling service.

Nearly 600 trees have been collected across BH1 – BH23, with all trees being recycled either by Eco Sustainable Solutions, JSR Tree Care in Swanage or James Dean Garden Maintenance.

Area Fundraiser Ruth Wright said, “We are now in our 5th year and are thrilled to be able to continue offering this brilliant eco-friendly service to our local community. We are so grateful to our loyal supporters who keep coming back to register their trees for collection. We have raised an incredible £9,000 for our wonderful charity which could pay for 30 days of running our Breathlessness service. A special thanks to Katie Fox Estate Agents (www.katiefoxea.co.uk) for sponsoring our campaign again this year. Thank you!

“Huge thanks are also due to so many other local businesses and willing volunteers who have continued to help us again this year, from donating vans and people power, to providing space to chip trees. Our roll call of thanks goes to:
·       Abacus Vehicle Hire – Ferndown
·       Breeze – Poole
·       Poole Yacht Club (PYC)
·       Eco Sustainable Solutions

About Lewis-Manning Hospice Care

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care is a charity providing extraordinary care to patients and their loved ones facing a life-limiting illness across East Dorset & Purbeck. They offer a range of free hospice care services aimed at helping people to live well through their illness, closer to home. These include:
– Day hospices, virtual and in person
– Creative arts & wellbeing support
– Lymphoedema clinic
– Breathlessness clinic
– Bereavement & family support
– Complementary therapy
– Hospice at home

Every year Lewis-Manning supports around 600 local people and develop new services, based on patient need and identified gaps in the area. To do this the charity needs to raise over £2.3m every year. Without these funds the charity could not exist. Their important work increases people’s physical and social wellbeing, reduces isolation and loneliness, supports people to stay in their homes longer, and alleviates the huge pressures on family and carers.
