We’re delighted to announce that DDC Dolphin, based in Poole, has earned the prestigious ISO 14001 certification. This milestone reinforces our dedication to supporting hospitals and care homes in reaching their sustainability objectives.
Our range of innovative products, including medical pulp macerators, bedpan washer disinfectors, and sluice room consumables, plays a crucial role in enhancing hygiene and infection control in healthcare settings. Now, with ISO 14001 certification, we’re even better positioned to help these facilities achieve their environmental goals.
ISO 14001 is a globally recognised standard for environmental management, focusing on reducing waste and optimising resource use. It involves comprehensive planning, target-setting, training, and performance review to ensure continuous improvement.
Zoe Allen, Marketing and HR Director at DDC Dolphin, highlighted the alignment with NHS sustainability targets: “The NHS is committed to reaching net zero by 2040 for direct emissions and 2045 for those influenced through its supply chain. As a key part of that supply chain, we are dedicated to supporting the NHS and care homes in achieving these ambitious goals.”
Our ISO 14001 implementation brings significant benefits, including reduced waste, promotion of sustainable practices, and enhanced stakeholder confidence. This achievement builds on our commitment to ongoing environmental improvement.
This certification follows our recent move to a new 2,177sq m headquarters in Dorset, equipped with eco-friendly features like rooftop solar panels, energy-efficient insulation, and motion-controlled lighting. These upgrades have already led to significant reductions in energy consumption for heating, cooling, and lighting.
Our new facility also prioritises staff wellbeing, featuring amenities such as showers for cyclists and accessible facilities for disabled individuals, fostering a supportive and sustainable work environment.
