Digital Storm design and develop new website for Reid Bikes with custom eCommerce functions

Digital Storm, Dorset’s integrated web design and marketing agency, have built a beautiful website for Reid Bikes. The new site has a custom look and feel and went live at the beginning of Summer 2021.

The website gives a fresh new look to the brand, Reid Bikes, who are an international distributor of stunning bikes, scooters and watersports gear. Their products are available in over 20 countries through more than 800 retailers around the world. They’ve even had celebrity endorsements from the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger proudly riding the Zeus Fat Bike.

With their international HQ based here in Poole, they approached Digital Storm in 2020 with an exciting web design and development project. While the original site was ticking all the boxes on the surface, Reid Bikes approached Digital Storm because they wanted the entire website streamlined. Digital Storm wanted to design something that would do more than just tick boxes.

Reid wanted to be able to make changes to the content and update products as and when required as easily as possible. Previously, the website had been difficult to keep on top of and could be very unstable.

The solution was simple. A fresh new site that would streamline the process and make the internal teams more efficient. Everything about the new website has been designed and developed for enhanced user experience and ease of editing.
Of course, Digital Storm went the extra mile to design custom features that would help Reid stand out from the competition. Even minor details, such as the bike crank buttons and their hover effect, were taken into consideration. The new design is perfect for

There is so much to talk about when it comes to this website. Digital Storm really went the extra mile. The navigation is bold and effective, making it extremely easy for users to find what they’re looking for. The ‘Hot Products’ section is displayed on the main nav and can be easily edited in the backend by Reid’s team. It’s never been easier for them to display their most popular products.

Digital Storm also had to develop a custom eCommerce functionality. Reid Bikes sell their products through their 800 distributors across the world as opposed to selling online. This means that certain products are available in some countries but not others and pricing can vary. The website has been built to showcase the product range available in the users country and can display one of three agreed pricing options depending on how Reid wanted to display the information.

As well as the easy navigation and custom eCommerce features, Digital Storm created a large, complex directory for visitors to find their nearest Reid retailer.

The original distributor directory was one of the major problem pages on the original site. The plugin Reid were using caused regular issues. Digital Storm removed the plugin and utilised Google maps API and a custom geolocation function to create an interactive map of all the distributors.

When you visit the directory page, you’ll see that Google uses your IP address to populate the search bar and automatically displays your closest distributor. Of course, you are free to customise this – broadening or narrowing your search radius or changing location entirely.

Once you’ve found a dealer, you can get directions straight to their shop or find their contact information to enquire about prices or stock levels.

On top of the new features on the site built to enhance user experience, Digital Storm integrated a Distributor Portal so that the 800+ retailers could log in and access the promotional material and information that they need. This was a great way of offering more value to the distribution network.

Overall, Digital Storm feel their solution achieved everything that we set out to do in this brief. The entire team really enjoyed working with this amazing brand to bring their vision to life. The website is functional with a dynamic design that perfectly reflects the brand identity and will stand the test of time.
