Discover Wimborne returns for 2018
Posted on: 27/02/2018

Discover Wimborne, a month-long voyage of discovery which will showcase independent businesses, organisations and activities throughout Wimborne, returns for the second year.
During April visitors and locals will be encouraged to explore the delights of the town and discover Wimborne as a destination.
The initiative, which builds upon the success of last year’s event, commences on April 1st and is organised by Wimborne Business Improvement District (BID).
From professional services firms to sole traders, Wimborne is home to a varied range of thriving and successful independent businesses, including bakers, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants, independent shops, vets, office space providers, printers, artists, heritage organisations, auctioneers, architects, florists, travel specialists, event organisers, charities and community groups.
“These are local traders who want to ‘keep things local’ but are very proud of what Wimborne has to offer and want to bring it to the attention of a wider audience,” said Tammy Sleet, BID Manager, Wimborne BID.
“As well as High Street national names, Wimborne is home to many unique independent shops which offer excellent service and welcome people who enjoy a relaxed, family friendly shopping experience.
“This year’s event will be bigger and better, and I am delighted to see so many businesses and organisations working together to make Discover Wimborne 2018 an even bigger success,” she added.
Last year’s event featured four zones – Shopping, Food and Drink, Business and Culture – and participating businesses reported a combined total of 3,077 attendees across events. Two-thirds commented that Discover Wimborne not only raised the profile of their business, but also worked as a driver for additional business, whilst 96 per cent stated they would take part again.
“Those who did take part felt working together in collaboration made an enormous difference and was a crucial factor in the event’s overall success. They found that the engagement, communication and support exceeded expectations.”
