Don’t forget to recycle your Christmas tree with Diverse Abilities

Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity, is hosting its sixth year of Christmas Treecycling services between Saturday January 8 and Monday January 10, 2022.

The fundraising initiative is sponsored by Waste Management Facilities Limited and supported by Adventure Wonderland and Hoburne Decking. For a suggested £10 donation, the charity’s team of volunteers will collect your tree and dispose of it responsibly across the BH1 to BH18, and BH21, BH22, BH23 1-3 and BH31 postcode areas.

Lisa Delahunty, managing director at Waste Management Facilities Limited, commented: “We’re thrilled to be working with Diverse Abilities once again this year – as well as helping with the logistics and volunteering, we’ll also be providing the team with all the PPE required to keep the collections safe. Treecycling is an excellent way to make a planet-conscious decision over the festive period, and it’s exciting to see this service grow each year.”

Following a series of COVID-19 precautions introduced for the previous tree collection, the process is entirely contactless for the bookers – trees are instructed to be left in an accessible place, not obstructing walkways, for the team of volunteers to collect over the course of the weekend.

Claire Cooper, fundraising officer at Diverse Abilities, added: “We are so thankful to everyone who has booked in for their collection so far, it all adds up to make a huge difference for our vital services supporting children, adults and families all year round. Each Christmas we provide around 8,000 hours of care through respite, activity sessions, community trips, domiciliary care and school holiday clubs.”
