Dorset Chamber chief executive Ian Girling said: “Clearly, the new support is welcome and will give some businesses much-needed breathing space.
“For others, the six-months package will be seen as a sticking plaster and may not be enough for those businesses facing an incredibly hard winter and the prospect of a return to sky-high energy bills in the spring.
“Dorset Chamber will continue to lobby on behalf of business in the county and argue our case in the review of ‘vulnerable’ businesses eligible for further targeted support at the end of six months.
“I hope we see more support and details emerge in the new Chancellor’s first fiscal statement later this month as energy prices are just one of many factors contributing to the fearful storm engulfing businesses at this time.”
