Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is asking businesses with employees aged 45+ to volunteer to take part in an innovative new ‘Midlife MOT’ programme.
Government backed and funded by the Department for Work and Pensions, the pilot has been created to help individuals in midlife evaluate personal health, finance and skills.
Taking a Midlife MOT can benefit everyone. For employers it helps drive business growth, increase productivity and improve staff retention. For the individual, it can help with planning for the future. The Midlife MOT offers opportunities for employers to access a free bespoke toolkit, helping them to review finances and staff’s personal health and skills. Dorset LEP are also supporting employers with a series of webinars to support conversations with employees and realise the benefits of the initiative.
Dorset businesses who sign-up to take part will be given access to a digital resource pack enabling them to promote the initiative to their midlife workforce. The online resources include links to comprehensive support and advice from well-respected organisations.
Lorna Carver, Dorset LEP Director, said: “Our programme is taking place throughout April and early May. We’re looking for proactive Dorset businesses who appreciate how important it is to look after their employees to help us test out the Midlife MOT philosophy and toolkit.
“Small and medium sized businesses across Dorset don’t often have the time or resources to offer their employees this kind of support. Through Dorset LEP’s ready-made Midlife MOT package, we’re hoping to provide a win-win for Dorset businesses and their midlife employees.”
In addition to the toolkit, a series of webinars and podcasts are being offered by Dorset LEP during the week beginning Monday 19th April 2021. Expert guests will be sharing their thoughts on the challenges of midlife and how employers can help.
