Dorset’s Angel Investors return to face-to-face pitch events; 5 entrepreneurs will pitch to investors

Dorset Business Angels (DBA) hold their first face to face Pitch Event for eighteen months in October.  The event will take place at the Bournemouth Carlton Hotel.

Through their investment pitch events, DBA helps presenters raise equity capital from their investment members. Pitch events bring Investors and Entrepreneurs together to accelerate the growth of early-stage businesses.

Five pitches are confirmed, the first is a company specialising in the development of high-quality bespoke EV propulsion systems for all types of marine applications. The company is disrupting the traditional market of petrol and diesel engine drives and will pitch to investors at the event. The management are seeking funds to finance the scale up to full production of an EV propulsion system.

The second pitch will see an advanced robotics and AI solutions company pitch their digital companion robot to investors. The ‘virtual assistant’ robot allows care organisations to conduct some of their care remotely such as welfare checks and medication reminders; an added bonus addresses some of the problems of isolation by enabling patients to keep in contact with loved ones.

A further pitch from a company whose core product will revolutionise ‘smart’ outdoor automation, enabling control of a wide variety of third-party outdoor devices such as lighting, gates, irrigation and even hedge trimmers. The founders are seeking investment to bring the product to market and enable a production run in the early part of next year.

Two further pitches will complete the evening’s presentations; a vegan and free from ready meal company who already list Waitrose, Tesco and Ocado as their clients, are pitching for funding to further boost their sales and marketing activities. Finally, a company focused on aviation guidance technology providing autonomous control of aircraft to aid – for example – flight planning and collision avoidance in a shared airspace. A proof of concept has been completed and generated significant OEM customer interest.

Dorset Business Angels Chairman, Don McQueen commented, “We are delighted to be back in Bournemouth running our first face-to-face event for 18 months. Our online offering has been very popular, however, when canvassed our members expressed a strong desire to get back together physically, the relationships forged through face-to-face meetings being a critically important aspect of an investor’s journey.

There is absolutely no obligation or expectation for an individual to invest at all and we won’t ask you to get your cheque book out at the event! If you would like to get a ‘taster’ of what it’s like to be an Angel investor, please do get in touch and come along!

New for this event, we’ll also be recording the pitch presentations, they’ll be hosted on our website Pitch Portal afterwards, enabling members and non-members who can’t make the event in Bournemouth to have the opportunity to take part remotely.

DBA was formed in 2013 and provides quality, private equity investment opportunities to local high net worth (HNW) and sophisticated investors (SI). Any investments are in the form of an equity investment and not a debtor’s loan. Investments are made across all sectors.

Angel investment might come from a single investor, or it could be 2 or 3 Angels pooling funds together to support a company as a syndicate.

DBA is sponsored by Saffery Champness Accountants, Ellis Jones Solicitors and Investec Wealth and Investment. To book on to the pitch event visit www.dorsetbusinessangels.co.uk/events.
