Dorset’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry is one of the Best

Posted on: 04/01/2017

BUSINESSES in Dorset were praised for helping to make the county’s chamber of commerce one of the best in the country.
The recognition came for Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) at its annual Business Partners Lunch at the Highcliff Marriott Hotel in Bournemouth.
Ronan Quigley, who is executive director for corporate services at the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), hailed the changes at DCCI.
Mr Quigley said:“There has been a huge transformation at DCCI over the past few years. Chief executive Ian Girling and his team are doing a brilliant job but it is also down to all of the members and business partners too.
“There is incredible enthusiasm in Dorset and the chamber is as good as you will find anywhere else in the UK.”
The event was held as DCCI, known as the voice of business in Dorset, looked forward to 2017 with its Platinum Business Partners and Premier Business Partners.
Beales Gourmet at the Italian Villa was welcomed as a new Platinum Business Partner and Brighter Productions was introduced as a new Premier Partner.
Rob Mitchell, AFC Bournemouth’s commercial director, presented DCCI senior vice-president Vincent Boni from Newsquest Dorset with a football shirt to commemorate the club’s renewal of its Premier Partner membership.
Mr Girling said:“Our business partner programme reflects the dynamism and commitment of members across the board at DCCI.
“The number of business partners has increased from 13 to 28. We are extremely proud of the programme and really value the relationship with our partners who play a major part in the success of the chamber.”
He added:“My thanks to them and also to Ronan for giving an informed and interesting presentation at the lunch.”
DCCI, which has 800 members with more than 37,000 employees, is the only chamber of commerce in Dorset accredited with the BCC.
Members are able to help influence the government through the BCC.
Mr Quigley said the BCC aimed to oppose further business costs and taxes, support the launch of infrastructure projects and seize trade opportunities post-Brexit.
He added:“Brand Britain is a fabulous brand, really very well respected around the world.”

The DCCI was established in 1949.
