Drewsons Mechanical Services, part of the Bournemouth-based Drewitt Group, has recently completed a contract at Poole Hospital to provide specialist ventilation within Durlston and paediatric wards. The Durlston Ward cares for both adults and teenagers from the age of 19 years with various malignant disorders, and specialises in haemato-oncology and stem cell transplantation.
Work carried out by Drewsons Mechanical Services has included the installation and maintenance of a specialist ventilation unit that also manages the air pressure for carrying out intricate procedures such as bone marrow transplants.
This includes:
- Maintaining a positive air pressure in the ward to avoid ingress of foreign airborne contaminants
- Regulate temperature – both heating and cooling
- Three stage air filtration to clean the air before it reaches the ward
- Remote web based monitoring of all controls and configuration
Richard Drewitt, managing director of The Drewitt Group, said: “The work of the Durlston Ward is so important for the community and to be able to assist the day to day running is something that we’re immensely proud of.
“We have worked alongside Poole Hospital to ensure that the solutions we provide are the perfect match to its needs and ensure that both the treatments and everyday life of patients is as comfortable as possible.”Drewsons Mechanical Services was formed in 2011 and is a subsidiary of James Drewitt & Son Ltd. It has grown steadily over the years with a variety of works including simple response repairs of leaking taps to large scale contracts covering full heating installations, replacements of sanitary ware and general plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning works.
