Easter donation made to local foodbank at Dolphin Shopping Centre

Customers of Poundland at The Dolphin Shopping Centre in Poole have donated Easter Eggs to the centre’s foodbank collection point, facilitated by Faithworks Wessex.

Over the past few weeks, the centre has collected donations of essential items, which have been distributed to the local community. The foodbank collection point is located outside of Marks & Spencer in the centre and all are encouraged to donate long-life food items and toiletries to those in need.

John Grinnell, Dolphin Shopping Centre Manager, said: “We appreciate this Easter will be a difficult time for families within our local community. We know Easter Eggs are not classed as an essential item, but we are thankful for customers’ support to provide families who wouldn’t otherwise have received an egg this Easter, to spread some community cheer. This period is incredibly stressful for many and we are humbled by the community support shown by the customers of Poundland.”

Alan Purchase, Deputy Manager of Poole Foodbank, added: “We are extremely grateful to the customers of Poundland for their generous donation. We know just how much this will mean to many families across the county at this challenging time.”

The Dolphin Shopping Centre is open for essential items, Monday to Saturday 8.30am to 6.30pm, and Sundays from 10am to 5.30pm. Only key retailers remain open to the public. These are Marks & Spencer, Boots, Holland & Barrett, WHSmith, Cycle Paths, Poundland, McColl’s and Wilko. Specsavers also remain open for emergency appointments only. Each retailers’ specific opening times are available on their websites for shoppers’ information. All other retailers are shut for the foreseeable future, per the Government directives.
