Ellis Jones, Wealth Management Company Set to Grow after Acquisition
Posted on: 24/02/2017

Ferndown-based Smith Hobbs Wealth Management (SHWM) is headed by Matt Smith, 30, who has taken over the book of retiring wealth manager Colin Hobbs, proprietor of the previously named Hobbs Wealth Management which operated in South Dorset.
SHWM’s expansion plans include building the firm’s corporate client base and relationships with professional connections. It is also taking on an extra member of staff.
Matt, a law graduate and both an accredited chartered wealth manager and financial planner, said:“I am confident that we can grow the assets under management by up to 25 per cent per annum through my existing contacts and professional connections.”
Ellis Jones Solicitorsacted as legal advisers for SHWM’s acquisition of Hobbs Wealth Management with Neil Cook, Head of Business Services, handling the deal. Kevin Lyons, of Swanage-based The MKL Partnership, introduced SWHM to Ellis Jones.
Matt, who was a private banking and advice manager with Lloyds Bank for four years, said:“Thanks to Neil’s expert advice and guidance the acquisition was transacted quickly and smoothly.”
Neil added:“Matt is one of the new breed of wealth managers who is hungry for success. We were very pleased to assist and wish Smith Hobbs Wealth Management every success for the future.”
A DORSET wealth management company has unveiled ambitious expansion plans after acquiring a neighbouring practice for an undisclosed sum.
