Gentlemen, Let’s Talk about the Menopause | Online Event
Raising awareness of the impact of the menopause on women in the workplace.
Thursday 30th September 2021 – 0930-1045, via Zoom.
Approximately 13 million women in the UK are peri or post-menopausal. 1 in 4 women will experience severe debilitating symptoms that will affect the ability to work and two thirds of women say there is a lack of support and understanding. Women aged 45 to 55 also make up the largest single demographic within the UK workforce.
We believe there needs to be greater education in this area for both men and women and a far greater awareness and support within the workplace.
Following our recently acclaimed and ground-breaking event looking at the impact of the menopause on women at work as part of our Fit for the Future Initiative, we are hosting an online event to highlight the importance of having workplace conversations around the menopause. Still undoubtedly a taboo subject in many workplaces and an uncomfortable topic for many men. This event is for men only.
What will we learn?
Nicola Green is a menopause consultant and she helps organisations address menopause in their workplace by providing practical advice and support. The aim is to open up a dialogue around the menopause in the workplace, to ensure that staff feel comfortable discussing it with line managers and business leaders. There are a number of practical measures that businesses can take that make a big difference to women who may be going through a variety of menopausal symptoms. Edward O’Brien from Lester Aldridge will then talk about employers responsibilities and Dorset Chamber team member Theresa Higgins will provide an honest insight into the impact of the menopause on her well-being.
This event is aimed at all men within the workforce, including those in positions of management and leadership
