An export controlled or licensed product is a product controlled by the UK Government. 
Export licences are needed for importing and exporting of military and paramilitary goods, dual use and technology, works of art, plants, animals, medicines and chemicals. 
 
If your goods fall into these categories you will need to find out how to apply for export or import licences and also find out what compliance responsibilities you have. It is vital that you are aware of these responsibilities, and you know who the relevant UK authorities are.

Mike provides International Trade Compliance expertise, having worked for 20 years with two US based multinationals.
Prior to working in the private sector, he served in the Royal Navy for 22 years as a logistics expert.

He holds a degree in International Development and a certificate in advanced customs compliance. He is a full member of the Institute of Export, has a Green belt in Continued Process Improvements and is a Committee member of the Devon International Trade Forum.
