Evolve event explores marketing potential of podcasts

The enormous marketing potential of podcasts was the focus of discussion at the Evolve Live event, held on February 27th at Evolve’s event space in Ashley Cross.

The evening brought together three podcasters – Sarah Choudhury (Curry Queen), Mark Cribb (Humans of Hospitality) and Evolve’s Warren Munson (Evolve to Succeed) – and local experts Andy James and Kelly Butler of Podcast Labs, for talks and a panel discussion. The event itself was broadcast as a live podcast.

Some key takeaways included the great marketing and commercial possibilities of podcasts, how they encourage you to be creative, create connection and loyalty with customers, are a relatively cheap marketing tool, and offer opportunities to meet and chat in-depth with other business leaders you might not otherwise connect with.

Andy and Kelly gave invaluable insight and tips into the equipment and techniques behind perfecting your podcast – it’s not just a case of sitting in a room with a microphone! – while Warren noted that a successful podcast is not only the result of the interviewer and subject but the team behind it, who are responsible for editing and marketing each episode.

“Entering into the world of podcasts has been incredibly exciting,” Warren said. “Not only have I had the privilege of listening to other business leaders’ stories and be on the receiving end of their honesty and wisdom, I’ve also learnt new skills. Receiving positive feedback from numerous people both inside and outside my network is fantastic, and I’ve already seen the benefits of engagement in the business community. It really is a great tool.”

The Evolve to Succeed podcast is available on iTunes, Spotify and Stitcher.
