‘Future Leader Award’ – Empowering and Supporting Leaders of the Future

Future Leader

Festival Partner, YMCA Bournemouth, will be on stage at the Dorset Business Awards on 12 October to present the ‘Future Leader Award.’

YMCA has almost two centuries of experience in youth development and empowerment.  Locally, it is active in working with young people and young adults to enable skills and development. The charity offers a range of apprenticeships, opportunities, mentoring and development to the future leaders of tomorrow.  YMCA’s executive team also take an active role in the local community to share their expertise and knowledge to help other organisations, leaders and businesses thrive.

Excellence in leadership is intentional, using a mixture of good character, integrity, honed skill, consistent determination, purposeful action and enduring legacy. YMCA has inherited these values from those that have gone before us and looks for all of these in their work; to bring them out in all they reach and in all they do.” Martin Stockley, YMCA Bournemouth

Martin Stockley, YMCA Bournemouth, said: “Excellence in leadership is intentional, using a mixture of good character, integrity, honed skill, consistent determination, purposeful action and enduring legacy. YMCA has inherited these values from those that have gone before us and looks for all of these in their work; to bring them out in all they reach and in all they do.”

The YMCA itself is an example of the impact of supporting future leaders.  This year it is 179 years old, carrying a flame that now impacts over 145 million young people worldwide each week and through that, reaches communities, cities, and nations for generations to come. Examples of what supporting future leaders has enabled through the YMCA include; the Scout movement; the Red Cross; civil rights leaders, including Martin Luther King Jr., who credited the organisation with helping him develop his leadership skills; the invention of basketball and volleyball; Father’s day and even the use of the poppy on Remembrance Day.

If you feel like you, someone you work with, or someone you know, holds the values of a Future Leader in our community then submit your application today.
