A West Moors’ couple, Gillian and Alex Clarke, have donated £50 to Coping with CHAOS, run by Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s Disability charity.
The donation started as a golden envelope donation from the new Bishop of Salisbury, Bishop Stephen Lake, when he was welcomed to Salisbury Cathedral in June. Everyone was given an envelope containing £10 with a total of £10,000 given away, donated by two generous benefactors.
The instructions given were to make the £10 grow and to give it away so that 'in an anxious world, it would make a difference'. Husband and wife, Alex and Gillian Clarke chose to donate £50 to Coping with CHAOS to make a difference to the lives of children and young people in Dorset as a gift from St. Mary’s Church in West Moors.
Coping with CHAOS provides support to children and young people with complex, profound and multiple learning disabilities and challenging behaviours who cannot easily access other resources and play schemes. These children and young people, plus their families, benefit from play opportunities every day of the school holidays, a youth club and lots of support and information for parents and the rest of the family, including activity sessions for siblings.
Clare Rochford, Children’s Team manager, commented: “We really appreciate this kind and generous donation, it will mean so much for the children and families we support in our school holiday activities, youth club and family support service.”
