Greendale Construction start £2 million works at Studland House for Bournemouth University

Chartered Builders, Greendale Construction Limited, has started work on phase 2 of Studland House for Bournemouth University, which will see the refurbishment of the ground, first, third, fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth floors of the building.  The £2 million works include the demolition and strip-out of existing partitions, furniture, fixtures, equipment and finishes; the remodelling of existing floor plates including toilet provision; new mechanical and electrical installation and full internal refurbishment of other areas.  The project is due for completion in June 2021.

Chris Kane, Director, Greendale Construction Limited, commented:This is the third project in as many years that Greendale has taken on for Bournemouth University, with the main purpose being to modernise and provide a more professional environment for students and staff.  The works are taking place within a live university environment, so our teams will work collaboratively to ensure there is no disruption to students and staff.

Previously, in November 2020, Greendale successfully handed over on a £1.5 million contract for the University which involved the complete refurbishment of the north wing of the second floor of Christchurch House on the Talbot Campus. The works included the formation of new teaching laboratories, new microbiology laboratory with associated prep room and autoclave room, new toxicology laboratory with prep room and new project lab.

Marcin Grabowski, Estates Programme Manager, Bournemouth University, commented:

The Studland House refurbishment and remodelling project forms a part of Bournemouth University’s continuous effort to improve and transform its estate. This building will provide consolidated, high quality central hub for BU’s Professional Services at Lansdowne Campus. As part of the University’s commitment around environmental sustainability, all major BU refurbishments must achieve the ‘very good’ rating through the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM), as a minimum. Thanks to a fantastic effort from BU and Greendale Construction Limited, the Studland House project is currently on track to achieve BREEM ‘excellent’ rating.”
