Greendale Construction strengthens its apprenticeship program with two new recruits

Chartered Builders, Greendale Construction Limited, has taken on two new first year apprentices, refusing to let the current Covid-19 pandemic affect the firm’s longstanding apprenticeship program. The new recruits join the firm’s 2nd and 3rd year apprentices, strengthening Greendale’s commitment to training for the future of the construction industry, and sealing its dedication in offering young people the opportunity of training for a lifelong career.

Jacob Barton, 19, joins the award-winning company as a 1st year electrical apprentice.  Jacob will be studying at Bournemouth & Poole College for his Level 3 electrical installation/maintenance apprenticeship, whilst working closely with Greendale’s electrical manager and gaining hands-on experience across its sites.

Samuel Wright, 17, is Greendale’s second new apprentice, having joined the firm straight from St Aldhelm’s Academy after previously spending 2 weeks on work experience with Greendale in 2019.  Sam will be studying towards his 3 year NVQ Level 3 in site carpentry, and mentored by one of Greendale’s senior site carpenters.

Samuel and Jacob join 2nd year NVQ Level 3 site carpentry apprentice, Ed Gibson, 18, who joined Greendale from Winton Boys School in 2019, and Tyler Cooper,18, who has embarked upon the final year for his NVQ Level 3 site carpentry apprenticeship, having joined the firm from St Aldhelm’s Academy in 2018.

Maria Seabright, Finance/HR Director, Greendale Construction Limited, said: “Training for the future of the construction industry and offering young people the opportunity to specialise in a trade which will set them up with a career for life, has always been a priority for Greendale.  And never more so than during this time when many companies have been forced to put their apprenticeship programs on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  Now our new recruits, Samuel and Jake have joined us, Greendale has four great apprentices who will benefit from the vast and varied experience of working on different sites, different sectors, and, by being personally mentored by our own experienced senior employees.  Our apprentices are an asset to Greendale, and we take great pride in watching them flourish.  Tyler, who is in his final year now, has even accompanied me to his old school, St Aldhelm’s Academy, where he talked about a typical day in his life as an apprentice with Greendale.”
