Greendale present Lexi May Trust with cheque for £2755

Dorset Chartered Builders, Greendale Construction Limited, has presented the Lexi May Trust with a cheque for £2755 from money raised at the company’s charity auction and raffle.

Founded in 2016 by Carly and Michael Hopkin after the tragic death of their daughter from an inoperative brain tumour, The Lexi May Trust, which is Greendale’s charity of the year for 2020, supports children with terminal illness or life limiting conditions in Dorset.

One of Carly and Michael’s four daughters, Lexi May was a loving, smiley and happy 7 year old before being diagnosed with the an extremely rare and aggressive high-grade brain tumour in January 2015.

With a diagnosis of just 9-12 months of precious time to make memories as a family,  Lexi underwent two rounds of intense radiotherapy and fought bravely, before sadly passing away in her parents’ arms in January 2016, aged just 8 years old.

Lexi May’s mum, Carly Hopkin, commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to have Greendale’s support.  Every penny donated will go towards creating special memories for the children, and families of children living with a terminal or life limited condition.”

To date, the charity has helped at least 100 families across Dorset who have received a fully funded day out.  Its future goal is to purchase a static home in Dorset that is especially adapted for disabled children so that the families can create special holiday memories, all funded by the Trust.

Maria Seabright, HR and Finance Director, Greendale Construction Limited, commented: “Greendale takes its commitment to help local charities very seriously, and we’re therefore delighted with the amount raised by our generous employees, clients and sub-contractors who donated and bid to help us raise this astonishing amount for the Lexi May Trust.”
