Greendale Returns To The Spire To Continue Poole Methodists’ ‘Sea Change’ Project

Dorset Chartered Builders, Greendale Construction Limited, has returned to The Spire in Poole High Street, to commence phase 3 of the Poole Methodists’ development, ‘Sea Change.’

The Sea Change project has seen the Poole town centre church transformed into a community hub where local charities and organisations can work together with the church to provide facilities and services for those in need.

Having commenced the latest works on 14 May, Greendale will be fitting out the main worship area of the original church above the phase 1 works completed in 2016.  Insulation, plastering, acoustic panelling, carpentry works and electrical and mechanical services will be carried out.  There will also be a complete fit-out of the first floor to the new extension previously built by Greendale during phase 2, which will involve partitioning, M&E services, plumbing, carpentry works and a lift installation.

Pete Marks, Greendale site manager, explained:“It’s fantastic to be back working at The Spire on a project which benefits the whole community. We are working with a live building below us that is in full use all the time, and so we have installed a large birdcage scaffold to access the high-level works in the worship area. The scaffold is approximately 6 metres high and has some 400 scaffold boards.  Although logistically this is a tricky contract at times, due to the prominent and central location, it’s nothing Greendale is not used to, and we look forward to completing in early December.”
