Help & Care is a registered charity and social enterprise that supports people and communities to live the lives they choose. We are here to provide people with information, advice and support that will enable them to take control of their life, make decisions and find support that is right for them.
We run a large range of services across Dorset and Southern England including our Self-Management service for people living with long-term conditions, our independent Advocacy Service, Roots – a community gardening service, the Dementia Co-Ordinator Service, several Healthwatch services and our training for health professionals in health and wellbeing coaching which has received accreditation by the Personalised Care Institute.

Involving People
We were delighted to present a new look and name for Wessex Voices. Help & Care formed ‘Wessex Voices’ in 2014 in partnership with NHS England and Improvement (NHSE/I) and the local Healthwatch based in Wessex (Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight). We are continuing this important work and partnership under our new identity, Involving People.
Involving People work with health colleagues to advise, guide and support meaningful engagement with patients and the public. They offer training and development courses and a Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) toolkit to equip organisations to engage local people effectively.

Dementia Roadshows
Help & Care have been a vital part of a new series of ‘Dementia Roadshow’ events for people with, and those effected by, Dementia. Many people living with Dementia feel that having support along their journey will maximise independent living and prevent a crisis.
These new free drop-in events provide information on services available locally with representatives on hand from the Help & Care team, Dorset HealthCare’s Memory Assessment Service, NHS Dorset (previously NHS Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group) and AgeUK.
There is no need to book to attend. We invite the public to pop by, enjoy a tea or coffee and speak to local professionals about what services and support is available.
The next two events will be held in Bournemouth and Poole.
Tuesday 15th November 1.00 – 3.00pm
Bridport Town Hall, South Street, Bridport, DT6 3NJ.
Thursday 26th January 1.00pm – 3.00pm
The Allendale Centre, Hanham Road, Wimborne, BH21 1AS.
