Helping the community stay safe with Safewise

Immerse Medical Training are always looking for ways to work with the local community, so developing a working relationship with Safewise, gave them the perfect opportunity to do so.

Local charity, Safewise, deliver interactive and practical ‘skills for life’ in a realistic full-size streetscape. As champions of encouraging children to learn life-saving skills, Immerse Medical Training were more than excited to be able to participate in the development of their learning programme.

As medical advisor for the Key Stage 2 ‘Junior Citizen’ programme, Immerse Medical Training helped design the real-life scenarios which the children would be immersed in; giving them the practical advice on how to use the Medical Services properly, the differences between varying types of drugs and how to manage a casualty who is unconscious and breathing.

Immerse Medical Training also provided training and guidance to the volunteers who run this fantastic learning experience, ensuring they were capable of effectively guiding the young people through their training.

Martin Hyland, Managing Director of Immerse Medical Training said “Our business  is growing and part of that growth includes ensuring we keep closely involved with the local community.  This is not a one-off, ordinary training experience for us and being present at the pilot programme sessions, where children from two local schools came to try out the scenarios and give us the honest feedback we were after, was and is part of this on-going partnership.”

Immerse Medical Training will now be involved in the training of all volunteers coming into the programme for October and November.  Immerse Medical Training Managing Director, Martin Hyland will also be a member of the ‘local board,’ which will involve supporting the centre, generating ideas around new training programmes and maintaining a network between Safewise and local businesses and schools.
