Historic Inn continues ‘unprecedented’ demand for virtual tour maker

The boom in staycations and UK holidays is generating ‘unprecedented’ hospitality sector demand for services from a Dorset virtual tours company.

Visualisation specialist Yooport has completed the latest in a series of Covid-safe hotel commissions as providers increasingly seek to showcase their accommodation online.

The Coniston Inn, a newly reopened landmark pub with rooms in the Lake District which is part of the award-winning The Inn Collection Group, is available to explore virtually after data capture by the Yooport team.

It follows virtual Yooport tours completed recently at Holiday Inns in Bournemouth and London, and fellow Lake District venue The Ambleside Inn.

Yooport harnesses leading-edge, all-in-one reality capture software that works to a much higher level than traditional video or 360° tours.

It creates hyper-realistic 3D models of real-world spaces, named ‘Digital Twins’, with multiple view options and outputs in a range of formats.

At The Coniston Inn, prospective guests can enter the foyer, tour the bar and eating areas, and select their choice of bedroom – all before booking.

Richard Guppy, Yooport’s Technical Director and co-founder along with his wife Krystyna, Marketing Director, said: “The race is on to attract holidaymakers who are seeking alternatives to international travel due to Covid, with short breaks and hotel stays in the UK proving hugely popular right now.

“As a result, we are seeing unprecedented demand from hospitality sector clients with the breathtakingly beautiful Coniston Inn the latest to come aboard.”

Krystyna said: “Our virtual tours are an ideal solution for remote viewings of bedrooms, lounges, eating areas and other features, so creating an additional and compelling platform to extend the hospitality sector’s marketing reach.”

A popular destination for more than a century, the 42-bed Coniston Inn re-opened in August 2020 after an 18-month, multi-million-pound redesign by owners The Inn Collection Group.

Blessed with spectacular lake and fell views, the inn is situated on the shores of Coniston Water where water speed record breaker Donald Campbell’s Bluebird crashed in 1967.

Chris Moor, Operations Manager for The Inn Collection Group (West), said: “A virtual tour is an ideal promotional tool, especially at this time as millions of staycationers across the UK look to enjoy a change of scenery close to home and want to ‘try before they buy’.”

Yooport was originally born out of a desire to equip building professionals and commercial property owners with specialist 3D views of construction and development projects but it has rapidly expanded into the leisure, education and hospitality sectors too.

As well as high-definition photography and video content, Yooport output formats can include architecturally dimensioned floor and ceiling plans. Users can also measure remotely from the 3D Digital Twin.
