J.P. Morgan Staff Visit Barnabas to Bring Christmas Cheer to Students
Posted on: 04/01/2017

A team fromJ.P. Morganvisited Barnabas, a day opportunity hub for adults with disabilities run by Diverse Abilities, to meet the students supported and assist with a range of festive activities.
The J.P. Morgan team arrived early and spent the morning with students making musical instruments such as bells and shakers, and enjoying the festive atmosphere created by the Diverse Abilities’ staff.
The crafting of musical instruments wasn’t just a great opportunity to get creative though, as they were used during the afternoon when the J.P. Morgan choir arrived and delivered a Christmas carol singing session. Members of staff and students were encouraged to sing along and a great time was had by all who attended, including staff from Diverse Abilities head office.
The event marked J.P. Morgan’s second visit to Barnabas in 2016, as during November a team entertained students supported with an interactive story session.
Sarah Harrison, volunteer and recruitment manager at Diverse Abilities, said:“It was lovely to see the employees from J.P. Morgan spending time with the people we support and engaging with them to enjoy a fun and festive activity. We really appreciate how much thought had gone into planning the event and ensuring that everyone could participate fully.
“It is fantastic to see big local companies taking the time to give back to local charities and shows what a difference it can make. We are always looking for volunteers so if you think you would like to donate your time please do get in touch.”
Barnabas is a lively, sociable day opportunity setting and is a place where people with disabilities can meet and make new friends, acquire new skills and enjoy a wide range of experiences. During December the main hall has been decked out with Christmas decorations to transform Barnabas into the perfect setting for festive activities.
If you would like to support Diverse Abilities in 2017 why not get in touch or visit the charity’s website atwww.diverseabilities.org.ukto find out how you can get involved.
