Langside School extends its nursery spaces with new mobile classroom

Langside School, the specialist school based in Poole and operated by Diverse Abilities, has extended its nursery years with a new mobile classroom.

Headed up by one of its specially trained teachers, the new classroom is part of the school’s Caterpillars ‘year group’ of children aged two to five years old and will include additional therapy provisions including speech and language, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy, as well as nursing support.

The new mobile classroom also features a family room so those who are new to the school can attend with their children and stay at a distance while settling in, as well as finding out more about day to day life at the specialist school. There is also space available for personal care when required.

Nicki Priddle, deputy head teacher at Langside School, commented: “We’re so pleased to have this new classroom at Langside. We currently have a very large nursery years class and this additional space also means we can support more children with education, health and care plans (EHCP) and are looking forward to welcoming some new faces soon.

Any family with a child aged two to five years of age with an EHCP or special education needs are welcome to apply for a space at Langside School through the local authority. The school has the ability to provide for any neurodisability.

Nicki added: “We work alongside our families at Langside School to ensure that every child has their own bespoke learning outcomes and we will cater their day at school accordingly.

Langside School supports children aged two to 19 with profound physical and learning disabilities and complex medical needs. Its team provides a full sensory and therapeutic approach to meeting the needs of pupils and help them achieve their full potential, with nursing support in every class.
