University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity received a surprise donation this week – thanks to an additional gift from Morebus.
Last year, the local bus operator named University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity as its official good cause for 2024 and 2025, and is spending two years raising funds and awareness to help the charity provide a wide range of services and support for local NHS patients.
After a recent donation of £50,000, Morebus has followed up with an additional £5,210 top up.
“Our team members are behind this latest donation,” said Morebus general manager, Richard Wade. “As a responsible local employer, we conduct an annual survey to receive feedback from our colleagues to gauge how they feel about working with us.
“Many don’t necessarily like face-to-face meetings, so we carry it out anonymously online. As an added incentive, we pledge to make a donation to our charitable cause for every team member who takes part.
“University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity is a crucial resource, helping to pay for additional equipment, research and innovations – as well as finishing touches and ‘extras’ that complement the existing high-quality care for patients across the three towns.
“It provides financial support to areas of the hospitals’ services that lie beyond the scope of NHS funding – and this is of enormous benefit to thousands of people living across our area.
“My colleagues have voted for University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity to be our official good cause, and I’m delighted to be boosting our support with this lump sum – which is in addition to our fundraising efforts this year and next.”
