Morebus is showing its support for the Royal British Legion – with bus drivers wearing poppies throughout the period of Remembrance.
“We know how proud people across this area are of the nation’s military, and so is our team at Morebus,” said Morebus managing director, Ben Murray. “As an established part of this community, we want to show our support for all those in the services.
“All our drivers and other team members will be given a poppy to wear, if they wish to do so. And we will be making a donation for these, to the Royal British Legion.
“It is important to us that we acknowledge the work our troops do and have done – often in unimaginably hostile war zones. We hope, by proudly displaying our poppies and raising awareness for this worthwhile cause, we’re backing our words with actions.
“Our drivers will also be pulling over, if it is safe to do so, at 11am on Sunday 9 November for Remembrance Sunday and at 11am on Tuesday 11 for Armistice Day, as a mark of respect to observe the two minutes’ silence.”
Morebus is also offering free travel all day – on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day – for UK Armed Forces veterans and those who are currently serving. The hope is that this will allow them to travel to events or see family and friends.
All they need to do is display their medals or show their military ID card when boarding the operator’s buses.
The Poppy Appeal is the Royal British Legion’s annual fundraising initiative, starting in late October and running through to Armistice Day on 11 November.
