Stourfield Infant School now has a new Library thanks to donations and the hard work of the Parents Association under the leadership of Michelle Edwards its Chair.
“In a survey completed by our children the feedback showed the Library could do with being cosier and ideas were put forward as to how this could be achieved,” says Rebecca Harris, Headteacher. “We have had donations from J.P, Morgan and from NAPRA, a local residents association, plus all our fundraising from Fairs and other events has gone towards the project. As well as the work that has currently been completed we have 1,000 books due to arrive very shortly. We would also like to thank Mr. Millington, who gave up his free time to carry out the painting for us.”
Stourfield Infant School caters for children aged 4 to 7 years old and is rated as Outstanding by Ofsted.
The School Council, which includes children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, were at the launch of the Library which had a ribbon cutting ceremony where some of the children expressed their thanks to those who had contributed.
“We are always very grateful to those who give up their time or make financial donations to help us provide the children with resources that would otherwise not be possible,” says Michelle Batt, School Business Manager. “The Library will have so much use and is now a much more welcoming environment for the children.”
J.P. Morgan employs 4,000 people at its technology and operations centre in Bournemouth and has a strong history of community engagement.
“We were fortunate enough to receive a donation from J.P. Morgan to purchase a new Playhouse in 2016 which continues to be a very popular at playtimes,” added Michelle.
