New Manager for Swanage Business

Elise Neville has been appointed as manager of James Smith Funeral Directors in Swanage.

She has worked at the branch for more than seven years and takes over from Malcolm Green, her long-standing predecessor.

The branch is part of Dorset’s Douch Family Funeral Directors and has served Swanage and wider Purbeck area since 1892.

It offers full funeral services, provides bereavement group support following funerals and can pre arrange funerals using the company’s award-winning funeral plan.

Elise, a former nurse and embalmer, said: “Having served Swanage for some years I understand the historic and important role the business plays within the community.

“The funeral industry is evolving. While Swanage remains rooted in tradition, we’re seeing more people seeking personalised and unique ways to honour their loved ones.

“We try where possible to accommodate these wishes and ensure each farewell is meaningful.

“People come to us during the most difficult times in their lives, and I consider it a true privilege to guide them through the arrangements with compassion and care.

“I’m fortunate to have the support of a wonderful team, and the connection with our other branches is invaluable. It is a great honour to lead this branch.”

Nick Douch, managing director of Douch Family Funeral Directors, said: “Elise has successfully completed all her diplomas in funeral directing.

“Families she has worked with say how empathetic and kind she is and we value her professionalism and hard work and we know the branch is in very good hands.

“James Smith is a name that many in Swanage will know and we are proud to continue to carry that name into the future more than 130 years after the branch was founded, and over half a century since becoming part of the Douch Family.”

Douch Family Funeral Directors other branches are in Wimborne, Corfe Mullen, Blandford, Parkstone, Wareham and Ferndown.
