Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital Sees Rise in ‘Self-Payers’

During the same year it celebrated its 60th anniversary, Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital witnessed a 15 per cent increase in the number of patients paying for treatment, ‘self-payers’.

Many people don’t realise that as well as the option of using medical insurance, they can also access private healthcare treatment by paying for themselves, to support busy lifestyles and reduce waiting times.

Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital offers procedures covering a range of specialties, including orthopaedics, cardiology, general surgery, cataracts and cosmetic surgery. It is also home to state-of-the art technology including robotic arm-assisted surgery for hips and knees, and a Cardiology suite.

David McNair, Hospital Director at Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital, said: “People have busy lifestyles and don’t have the time or the tenacity for long waiting lists, which can be potentially dangerous, especially when considering their health could be at risk.

Nuffield Health Bournemouth also offers a private GP service, which means we can offer convenient appointment times with minimal waiting for referrals or investigations. We are seeing more and more people wishing to pay to access these services promptly.”

David McNair adds: “This large increase in self-payers over a one year period is a clear indication that people are proactively seeking quick access, affordable, medical advice, and recognising that their health is important and sometimes it can’t wait.”
