Nurturing Growth within Chapman Lily Planning

Chapman Lily Planning (CLP) is welcoming back Clare Bolton and Emily Jeffries who both spent their university placement with the company, and following graduation, joined the team at the start of the year as Assistant Planners.

CLP is delighted to be in a position whereby they can both teach and nurture new planning professionals, ensuring that they are continually investing in their team. Both Clare and Emily will continue their journey as planners with the full support of Chapman Lily Planning.

Clare studied for a BSc Human Geography and Planning degree, (RTPI partially accredited), whilst Emily studied for a BA Hons Planning and Property Development RTPI (RTPI partially accredited). Emily will by studying for a master’s in Spatial Planning MSc (RTPI fully accredited) in September 2024 whilst working part time for CLP.

Clare Bolton commentedUpon completing a three-week work experience placement at CLP in July 2021, I took an interest in the planning system, specifically the different approaches to policy, and the potential for policy guidance to be weaponised to support any objective. My undergraduate dissertation gave me the opportunity to independently (and stressfully) research a specific area of policy that had little detail; ‘the governance of the relationship between crime and the built environment via the planning system’.

CLP offered me a part-time position alongside my degree to further my experience in the planning world, and I have been fortunate to be involved in a variety of schemes from householder residential applications to larger commercial sites. Over the past two and a half years, I have seen firsthand how to navigate the ‘world of planning permission’ and understand the procedures as policy evolves and I look forward to continuing this journey.”

Emily Jeffries commented “I chose to do my undergraduate degree in Planning and Property Development, having been brought up in the property sector it has always been interesting to me.
Following a few specialised planning modules at University I started realising that I wanted to be Planner, however it was during my 3-week work experience in August/September 2023 at Chapman Lily Planning that confirmed my decision.

I have an interest in sustainability, and I am looking at furthering this interest by undertaking a masters in September 2024, which will be part-time whilst working at CLP.”
