Party Boutique, the Party Décor & Event supplies company based in Southbourne have designed a clear panel face mask to help support those people in the community who suffer from hearing loss.
Deafness or hearing loss can affect anyone at any age and has been called the invisible disability.
Owner Astrid Saunders quickly realised that the biggest issue experienced by the hard of hearing when dealing with people in masks was the inability to be able to lip read or pick up on facial expressions.
Understanding the difficulties faced and to mitigate the feelings of isolation and anxiety, she designed a clear panel face mask and found a local seamstress to manufacture. Produced using recyclable PET plastic and material off-cuts, these face masks can be handwashed and are fully recyclable, making them kinder to community and to the planet.
The feedback received by both the deaf community and members of the public has been overwhelmingly positive and Party Boutique’s initiative has been shared on various social media platforms locally and nationally.
Easy to fit, the face masks are designed so that they won’t steam up your glasses and don’t fog across the panel allowing deaf people to lip read and for everyone else to see the team smile.
