Over £500k Worth Of IT Infrastructure Invested To Secure Future Of The i247 Group

With legislation changes to the Data Protection Act and the industry entering the digital age of ‘big data’ users are slowly requiring more from vehicle data to support delivery of their services.
To support this new era the i247 Group have invested significantly in their IT infrastructure enhancing the security, resilience and redundancy which has enabled them to offer total peace of mind as well as improved services to their customer base.
Personnel – Early 2018 saw the appointment of both a Data Protection Officer and Data Protection Compliance Operator ensuring the business processes, systems and activities are fully compliant with the new GDPR changes.
New Phone System: April 2018 saw the launch of the Group’ new cloud-based phone system. The deployment of a new phone system supports the Group’s ambition optimising its contact centre solutions whilst giving the Group the capability of leveraging the benefits of ‘home workers’ and disaster recovery mitigation.
New Data Centre: The Group migrated to a new datacentre site known as ‘The Bunker’. The facility can withstand significant damage as it’s located in an ex US military bunker built during the Cold war. The facility has the advantage of utilising a matrix of seven internet providers and a fully redundant power feed, spread across two separate parts of the National Grid – so if 1 goes down they are still operational!
Enhanced Infrastructure: their new datacentre has also benefited from brand-new infrastructure, including powerful new servers and “Next-Generation” firewalls. In addition, all hardware is fully redundant to minimise any unexpected downtime.
And finally, …
A second disaster recovery site has been purchased with a separate leased line. Thanks to their investment into a cloud-based phone system and new datacentre, their core services can remain operational if their main site were unavailable.
What does investment mean?…
Investment means the Group’s systems from which they operate from are now more secure, quick and capable than ever. It provides confidence to all that the business underlying platforms are ready for the digital age of ‘big data and connected car’. Importantly these investments ensure customers and their drivers are supported better than ever.
