Paris Smith Celebrates Career Milestones and Promotions

Leading South Coast law firm Paris Smith is celebrating the career achievements of five members of its Property team, highlighting its commitment to nurturing internal talent. Five former paralegals have successfully qualified as solicitors or chartered legal executives.

The newly qualified professionals include Melissa Lovell, who qualified as a solicitor in September 2025, and Nicola Watson-Hinbest, who became a chartered legal executive in June 2025. They follow in the footsteps of colleagues Alice Binns (solicitor, October 2024), Eva Pragnell (solicitor, July 2023), and Isabelle Darvall (solicitor, September 2022), all of whom started out at Paris Smith as paralegals. This milestone demonstrates Paris Smith’s dedication to providing clear pathways for professional development.

In addition to these achievements, Paris Smith is also delighted to announce the promotion of several solicitors to new associate roles. Effective 1 October, Lucy Andrews (Dispute Resolution), Emma Ship (Property), and Tom Fish (Corporate) have been promoted to Associate, while Lucy Taggart (Dispute Resolution) has been promoted to Senior Associate. Notably, Emma Ship and Tom Fish both began their careers as paralegals at the firm. These promotions reflect the firm’s focus on recognising performance, supporting ambition, and helping our people grow as future leaders.

Stuart Allen, Joint Head of Property, commented: “Investing in our people is at the core of what we do. We are incredibly proud to see Melissa, Nicola, Alice, Eva and Isabelle achieve this professional milestone. Their success is a testament to their hard work and dedication, and it reflects our commitment to creating an environment where colleagues can grow and thrive.
Likewise, the promotion of Emma Ship in our Property team, Tom Fish in our Corporate team and Lucy Taggart and Lucy Andrews in our dispute resolution team, illustrates the strong culture of professional development we value so highly. Supporting our people to become the best versions of themselves is fundamental to our culture.”

The success of these individuals demonstrates the impact of the firm’s structured training, mentoring and career support programmes, which empower colleagues to progress within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Reflecting on her journey, newly qualified solicitor Melissa Lovell said: “I am thrilled to have qualified as a solicitor with Paris Smith. The support and guidance I received from the firm and my colleagues throughout my training have been invaluable. Starting as a paralegal and progressing to this point has been a rewarding experience, and I am excited to continue developing my career here.”
