Poole Care Home Team and Residents Pedal 60 Miles for Pudsey

A Poole care home team and residents pedalled 60 miles on a static bike to raise money for Children in Need.

The team and residents at Elizabeth House care home on Dolbery Road South completed the challenge of cycling the equivalent distance of travelling from Poole to Bath. Throughout the challenge, everyone joined in the fun by wearing spotty tops and Pudsey Bear ears in honour of the Children in Need mascot.

Members of the community were invited to drop into the home, which is run by not-for-profit care provider, Care South, and help the team with their fundraising mission.

Yvonne, who lives in Elizabeth House, said: “I think it was a good laugh and great fun.”

Peter, who also lives in the home on Dolbery Road South, said that it was a “good idea.”

Other fun activities held on the day as part of the celebrations at the home included a visit from the children at Muddy Boots Nursery School in Parkstone who danced along with the residents to live music from an entertainer. The residents also enjoyed a pyjama and hot chocolate party.

Donna Moss, Home Manager at Elizabeth House, said: “Our residents were keen to support Children in Need, as we have many lovely children who come to visit our home, including our friends at Muddy Boots Nursery in Parkstone. It was wonderful to be able to welcome the community in for a fantastic day of fun games and activities. At Care South, we are proud to support causes that benefit our community and to help raise smiles and funds for Children in Need.”

All Care South homes took part in fundraising for Children in Need with other events including charity walks, bake sales and craft activities.

Elizabeth House, which is part of the Care South family of care homes, provides residential, respite, and dementia care. It features a dedicated activities team who organise a daily programme of events to bring residents together to socialise and build friendships.
