The HealthBus Trust is honoured to announce that His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset, Mr Michael Dooley, has become the official Patron of the HealthBus Trust.
As the King’s personal representative in Dorset, Mr Dooley plays a key civic and ceremonial role in recognising excellence and promoting voluntary service across the county. A respected consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, Mr Dooley has dedicated much of his career to improving health outcomes and advancing compassionate, patient-centred care.
Mr Dooley has accepted this patronage as a privilege, recognising the vital and transformative work the HealthBus Trust delivers across Bournemouth and nearby areas. The charity provides specialist, trauma-informed healthcare for people experiencing homelessness, supporting both physical and mental well-being through its mobile clinic and outreach services.
As Patron, Mr Dooley aims to raise awareness of the barriers people face in accessing mainstream healthcare and to champion the work of specialist charitable organisations like HealthBus, which are meeting unmet needs, rebuilding lives, and relieving pressure on NHS services and resources.
“It is an honour to support the HealthBus Trust as Patron,” said Professor Dooley “Their compassionate and inclusive approach to healthcare demonstrates how local innovation can change lives, restore dignity, and promote recovery for those who are too often unseen by traditional systems. It embodies the harmony between medical care and human kindness that lies at the heart of true healing.”
Christopher Wakfield, Chairman of the HealthBus Trust, expressed his gratitude:
“We are deeply privileged to have Professor Dooley’s support. His patronage affirms the value of our mission to ensure everyone, regardless of circumstance, has access to compassionate, high-quality healthcare. This endorsement strengthens our voice and highlights the importance of collaborative community solutions.”
The HealthBus Trust, a CQC-registered, award-winning charity, operates 3–4 days a week, providing essential healthcare, mental health support, chronic disease management, and social prescribing to people without stable accommodation.
