Reggae Weekender adds Yellows to its palate

Yellow Buses will be travelling down Electric Avenue next summer as official partners of the new Bournemouth Reggae Weekender festival.

It is being organised by Afro*disiac Live Radio CIC – a non-profit community interest venture based in the town.

There will be bands, dancing, poetry and food – as well as artisan traders and craft stands in keeping with the African-Caribbean culture.

The event is being held in King’s Park on July 4-5 and a shuttle service by bus running between Poole and Christchurch and the venue will be included in the ticket price.

Organiser Raymond Nyenje said: “This will be a unique occasion to celebrate the diverse African-Caribbean culture and reggae music adding to the thread that weaves the cloth of ‘togetherness and diversity’ in Bournemouth.

“We aim to provide a full range of entertainment and traditional activities, from live reggae bands and poetry to kids’ dance workshops.

“Tickets are £8 for adults and £18 for a family and will include a complimentary shuttle bus service thanks to our partners Yellow Buses.

“Other two-day ticket prices are available.”

Jay Thornton of Yellow Coaches – part of Yellow Buses – said: “We are very proud to be supporting yet another popular and local event.

“We have been working very closely with the event organisers to provide a travel solution so people can get to and from the event safely, efficiently and without the hassle of driving or parking their cars.

“We are providing transport links from across the conurbation on special services laid on for the weekend.

“They will be operating from Poole Station via Parkstone, Westbourne and Bournemouth railway station with additional services from Somerford and Christchurch via Iford which will transport visitors directly to and from the event at Kings Park.

“All users of this service will need to do is present their event ticket aboard one of our special buses.”
